The greatest thing you can ever hear come out the mouths of babes are 3 little words. When a child shares them the sun shines a little brighter and flowers grow a little brighter. Whether you are a mom or dad or mom mom or pop pop they reach deep down inside and warm you from your head to your toes. What are those 3 little words you ask? Why "I love you" of course.
In November I had my 30th reunion at the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City, NJ. We made a weekend of it by going down on Saturday early and hanging out before the party. We stayed over so we all could really talk and play on Sunday. I thought the I might take something home to my buddy-Will. Isn't that what grandmom's do when they go away: bring home a gift for the grandchild? I searched and searched for the right gift to take home to him at the best price (because I am basically cheap. I know not a nice word but it is the best word - lol). Finally, I found it. A little rubber (kid friendly) fire truck that cost under $5. Perfect! I stopped at the kids place on my way home, to give to the toy to my little Willaby but he wasn't there: still with his real father (my son is his step dad). Oh well - I left it with my son to give to him when he got home. And I went home and forgot about it. At about 11:00 my phone rang...Will was on the line. "Mom Mom, I love you." OMG! I can't explain what it did to me to hear that. Melted my heart. The kids were in the background saying you were supposed to tell her thank-you...HE DID in his own special way! I love you little buddy.
Kid-ism? What is a Kid-ism? I look at it as the infinite wisdoms that kids impart upon us everyday that cause a giggle, a chuckle and an out and out laugh. You have experienced them, repeated them and remembered them when you needed a little pick me up. In the immortal words of the late great Art Linkletter,"Kids say the darndest things!"
Moms or mom moms; Dads or pop pops are loaded down with them: potty stories, telephone conversations, Sponge Bob quips...whatever they are we keep them close to our heart. They warm us and make us smile. That is what this blog is all about. I wanted to share some of my stories with you; share a piece of my sunshine and love with you. And I hope you, too, will feel free to share yours with me.
Let's get started sharing!!!
