Kid-ism? What is a Kid-ism? I look at it as the infinite wisdoms that kids impart upon us everyday that cause a giggle, a chuckle and an out and out laugh. You have experienced them, repeated them and remembered them when you needed a little pick me up. In the immortal words of the late great Art Linkletter,"Kids say the darndest things!"

Moms or mom moms; Dads or pop pops are loaded down with them: potty stories, telephone conversations, Sponge Bob quips...whatever they are we keep them close to our heart. They warm us and make us smile. That is what this blog is all about. I wanted to share some of my stories with you; share a piece of my sunshine and love with you. And I hope you, too, will feel free to share yours with me.

Let's get started sharing!!!

The Kindergarten Player

I have worked with kids for years:  babysitting at 14, tutoring, substitute teaching and after school provider.  Over the years I have heard some great stories.  My favorite is about one of my favorite kids.  He was a sweet little boy who lived with his Aunt and siblings.  What a little lover he was!  One of the youngest, at 5, players I ever met.  This little boy could charm the spots off of a leopard.  Melt your heart and common sense with a smile.  And those sad eyes, ll you had to do was look at him and you were sure he just needed ALL of your love.

One day my partner and I took the kids outside to play with the bag of toys I kept in my trunk:  bubbles, badminton, wiffle ball and the such.  We threw blankets on the ground with books and games for the kids that did not want to play; a nice leisurely afternoon in the Sun and shade.  My partner and I sat on the curb, between the kids playing and the kids lounging on the blankets.  My little player comes over and hugs me and starts talking to me and my partner.  (also a great talker) My foot was aching me that day so I had slipped off my shoe for a bit.  The next thing I know the boy is massaging my foot and doing a really good job of it, too.  My partner laughed and said,"Hey, how about me?"  The little player moves from my foot to her shoulders.  I chuckled along with my partner.  Before I know it he is massaging both of our necks and says,"Can life be any better than this?!"  My partner and I fell out laughing.  What a little player!

On the phone with a 3-year-old

As Will gets older his language grows and matures.  Phone conversations have become more interesting...

Recently we surprised Will with a phone call.  Pop pop says,"Willy! What ya doing?"

Will says,"Talking to Pop Pop."

LOL  He did answer the question.

Share your Stories on my blog

Tell me everyone, what were those precious things that your grandchildren or children shared with you?  Did they make you laugh or cry with joy?  Did they make you think - well they are right?  Share all those stories with me on my blog.  I would love to hear them!

Three Little Words

The greatest thing you can ever hear come out the mouths of babes are 3 little words.  When a child shares them the sun shines a little brighter and flowers grow a little brighter.  Whether you are a mom or dad or mom mom or pop pop they reach deep down inside and warm you from your head to your toes.  What are those 3  little words you ask?  Why "I love you" of course.

In November I had my 30th reunion at the Flanders Hotel in Ocean City, NJ.  We made a weekend of it by going down on Saturday early and hanging out before the party.  We stayed over so we all could really talk and play on Sunday.  I thought the I might take something home to my buddy-Will.  Isn't that what grandmom's do when they go away:  bring home a gift for the grandchild?  I searched and searched for the right gift to take home to him at the best price (because I am basically cheap.  I know not a nice word but it is the best word - lol).  Finally, I found it.  A little rubber (kid friendly) fire truck that cost under $5.  Perfect!  I stopped at the kids place on my way home, to give to the toy to my little Willaby but he wasn't there:  still with his real father (my son is his step dad).  Oh well - I left it with my son to give to him when he got home. And I went home and forgot about it.  At about 11:00 my phone rang...Will was on the line.  "Mom Mom, I love you."  OMG!  I can't explain what it did to me to hear that.  Melted my heart.  The kids were in the background saying you were supposed to tell her thank-you...HE DID in his own special way!   I love you little buddy.

Hello

I created this blog for all the Mommies, Daddies, Mom mom's, Aunts...whatever you are you have been visited upon by a Kid-ism.  In the words of the late great Art Linkletter,"Kids Say the Darndest Things."  As a teacher, camp counselor, Mom and Mom Mom I have heard some of the funniest most precious bits of wisdom you can imagine and I want to share them with you.

I now am the proud Mom Mom of a 3-year-old bundle of giggles.  His name is Will.  I call him Little Man or Willy.  He is the source of so much joy and pure unconditional love.  He is also the source of some of the funniest stories.  All of 3 but surely turning 30 tomorrow.  Will is in training...potty training that is.  Just recently we go "Big Boy Pants".

This being the latest attempt to keep him in underwear and out of diapers.  He is a stubborn little boy, much like his step-dad, my son-Chris.   As a matter of fact, I can remember another stubborn little boy who would sit on that potty for hours and never poop...until you pulled up those pants and l walked away.  LOL.  Which brings me to my first story of the blog.  It is my favorite story I share about my son when he was a little boy.

When Chris was potty training, he was a pistol.  One day when I was doing dishes, it got real quiet.  Now as we all know, that is the first sign that something is going on with your kid.  Upon further inspection I found the funniest thing...There were two brown streaks running up the hallway and into the living room.  They ended at my son's Fisher Price vacuum.  Inside the vacuum all around the round decoration there was also this lovely brown substance.  Hmmm, what could it be?  Messy Marvin was at it again-covering up a mistake.  He had had an accident in his pants and they must have fallen onto the floor so he got the vacuum and cleaned them up--all over the house.  LOL.  What can you do?  All you can do is laugh.

I know you all have a potty story.  I would love for your to share them so we can all enjoy them.
